From time to time, we like to shine the spotlight on some of our most active volunteers in the association. This month's industry profile is focused on Gary Ittner, Senior Corporate Vice President of McJunkin Corporation, headquartered in Charleston, West Virginia.

The McJunkin Corporation has been in business for 83 years, operating out of 120 locations throughout North America. The firm is a leader in supply chain management to the fluid processing, as well as the oil and gas markets. Its product mix includes industrial carbon, stainless and high alloy pipe, valves and fittings; steam products; valve automation and controls.

Ittner himself has been in the industry for the past 33 years, having started at the McJunkin warehouse in 1971 while he was still in college. After graduating, he moved to inside sales for almost two years in Cincinnati, followed by stints in Akron, and Pittsburgh, where he assumed the responsibility for sales and operations of McJunkin's Northeast Region. In 1995, Ittner moved to Charleston as Vice President of Supply Management, a group responsible for the replenishment of branch and hub inventory as well as managing the company's vendor base.

Gary and his lovely wife Mary have been married for 28 years and have three children, aged 25, 24 and 19. When he's not serving the company or volunteering his time for ASA and other organizations, he enjoys skiing, golfing and reading.

As the new Chairman of ASA's Industrial Piping Division, Gary also serves to represent the Division on the ASA Board of Directors. According to Gary, McJunkin has been involved for a number of years and in various capacities with ASA. “We've done this because we believe it's important to have an organization that's committed to improving our industry buy offering products and services that offer benefits to all members. In addition, the exchange of ideas and information we gain by being a member of ASA is very valuable. I'm privileged to serve as the current leader of the Industrial Piping Division and I'm anxious to add to the success and value of our members and the industries we serve.”
