Truebro Inc. has brought suit for patent infringement and unfair competition against Plumberex Specialty Products and Futura Sales Inc.

Truebro Inc. of Ellington, Conn., has brought suit for patent infringement and unfair competition against Plumberex Specialty Products Inc. of Palm Springs, Calif., and Futura Sales Inc., of Framingham, Mass., Truebro said in a statement.

Truebro manufactures and distributes nationally the Lav Guard brand molded ADA piping covers for wheelchair accessible sinks and lavatories. The suit involves the Plumberex Handy-Shield Pro-2000 brand molded piping covers introduced this year. The suit is pending in the U.S. Federal District Court in Boston.

Plumberex said in a statement that it intends to file a lawsuit against Truebro for patent infringement of its patent rights, trademark infringement, misrepresentation, trade defamation and restraint of trade.

The charges of patent infringement by Truebro are groundless, Plumberex said in the statement, adding that it firmly believes the charges will be dismissed. "Plumberex intends to vigorously fight any civil action," the company said.

Futura Sales is a sales rep firm for Plumberex.
