Rheem Water Heaters provided an in-depth briefing on the new ANSI Standard for Flammable Vapor Ignition Resistant water heaters to about 3,000 plumbing, heating and air conditioning contractors in a series of dealer meetings held across the country this spring. As many as 275 contractors attended each of the 25 meetings. The 75-minute, multimedia event addressed three major issues:

What does FVIR mean and how does it work?

How does the installation of an FVIR-compliant water heater differ, if at all, from that of a non-FVIR unit?

What makes some FVIR systems different than others? For more information, call 1-800-HEATER3.

In related news, Rheem Water Heaters has introduced a pocket-size reference manual for its new Rheem Guardian System[tm], a line of residential gas-fired, atmospheric water heaters designed to meet the new ANSI Standard governing FVIR water heaters. The new standard became effective July 1 for residential gas-fired water heaters with storage capacities of 30-, 40-, or 50-gallons.
