Low Steel Prices Are On The HorizonDouble pipe

North American steel price declines are forecast to continue into the beginning of next year, according to British metals research firm MEPS. A modest revival in transaction values is then predicted for the second quarter of 2009.

Increases in raw material costs in 2009 are likely to encourage the domestic mills to implement price advances, say the researchers. Slower growth rates in steel consumption are likely to forestall substantial hikes, however.

Deteriorating economic conditions could delay a rebound in steel prices but a modest recovery is anticipated for the first half of next year. A small increase in raw material costs is expected during 2009. Consequently, mills will, almost certainly, attempt to push through steel price advances.

Tech Tip #8 by Gregg Marshall Gregg18a.lowres
To help you make the most of the Digital Age.

You're traveling and you realize an important file is on your desktop.

Maybe you can get a co-worker to email it to you.  Or you can suck it up and do without (SOL).

Or you could plan ahead and realize you are going to need files you may have left back at home.

There's a program/free service that lets you get any file off your computer using any web browser, Aavenu (http://www.avvenu.com/).

You download and install a small application on the base desktop.  Configure it with a username and password (here's where you really want to use a hard to guess, strong password).

Then when you need a file, you go to http://www.avvenu.com/ and log in.  Your files are displays and you can download the one you need.

Your network administrator will freak, but a system like Aavenu will save your rear end someday.
