Solco Plumbing
supply today announced that
David Weiner has been promoted
to the position of President of Solco.
He started his career at Solco
Plumbing Supply in 1989 as its first management trainee. He has at various
times held almost every position at Solco including shipping, receiving,
warehouseman, counter salesperson, purchasing and trucking.
Weiner quickly
advanced from there through senior level positions: from Purchasing Manager in
1994, to Director of Operations in 2001 to Vice President of Operations in
2005. He also helped open new branches in Bensonhurst and the Bronx, and helped
modernize Solco with the Eclipse computer system.
Weiner
graduated from Nassau community college in 1989 with a degree in business
management and a minor in marketing.
“It is with great personal pleasure that
my son David is becoming president of Solco. He has contributed much to Solco‘s
growth. David has helped both Stu and myself take a step backwards and I have
enjoyed watching him and Solco blossom. I fully expect this to only be one more
step towards his growth here,” said Stanford Weiner, vice
president, owner of Solco.
“Although
David started working at Solco as the son of an executive, he was started at
the very bottom: in the warehouse loading and later driving our trucks. During
his time here, he has consistently made his own way up through the rungs of
management. Indeed in the 18 years David has been with Solco, he has held
almost every middle and upper management position in the company. In each case
he performed his duties competently and with originality and flair. We are all
proud of him, and very gratified that we were able to promote our new president
from within. He is well suited to lead Solco into the 21st century,” said
Stuart Baker, CEO, owner of Solco.
